Sustainability

NERDS members are committed to incrementally implementing sustainable, inclusive, and environmentally friendly cultural activities that foster both artistic growth and social responsibility. Our work is rooted in democratic values, freedom of expression, and equal opportunities for all. To achieve these goals, we follow these guidelines:

• Environmentally friendly approach– We prioritize local and sustainable resources, participate in resource pooling, and optimize transportation. Our events mostly use reusable and recyclable materials as well as energy-efficient solutions where feasible.
• Social inclusion and accessibility– We ensure that our activities are accessible to diverse communities, including people with disabilities, individuals from different cultural backgrounds, and socially vulnerable groups. Our programs actively promote gender equality, fair representation, and diverse artistic voices, counteracting discrimination and exclusion.
• Democracy and freedom of expression– We believe that cultural exchange and artistic innovation thrive in an open, democratic society. Our network provides a platform for critical discourse, independent artistic expression, and the free exchange of ideas, supporting artists who challenge conventions and explore new perspectives.
• A competitive and sustainable creative Environment with a global outlook– We support innovation and the development of new artistic expressions by collaborating with regional and international partners. Our initiatives foster local and cross-border cooperation, strengthening the Nordic and Baltic region’s cultural ecosystem while ensuring fair working conditions for artists and cultural workers. At the same time, NERDS actively profiles itself within the global experimental music scene by engaging in international collaborations, showcasing regional artists on renowned platforms, and contributing to a worldwide dialogue on innovative and forward-thinking music.
